About Research Services

Research Services is responsible for overseeing research and related activities at WorkSafeBC. To carry out its mission, it delivers complementary programs:

  • Focus on Tomorrow provides funding for independent, scientific study as well as practical, shop floor projects of issues that are relevant to the needs of workplace parties and WorkSafeBC. An annual competition for funding is presented once per year for research projects funded under the program’s categories: Research at Work; Innovation at Work; and Research Training Awards.
  • Systematic Reviews competitions, targeting specific issues of interest to WorkSafeBC, are presented on an as needed basis.
  • The knowledge transfer program is an ongoing initiative to facilitate the transfer of research knowledge to end-users, including workplace parties, clinicians, and policy developers,

Research Services also develops and facilitates partnerships with other provincial funding agencies, research stakeholders, and workplaces to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to occupational health and safety research and knowledge transfer.
