Direct Deposit FAQs

Who can register for Direct Deposit service?

Any injured worker can register. Please note that Direct Deposit is only available for bank accounts in Canada. Just send us a completed Request for Direct Deposit in Canada, and we can start your Direct Deposit payments soon after. Please follow the instructions carefully so there is no delay in setting up your Direct Deposit service.

When do my payments go into my account?

When a payment schedule is set up on your file and payment is authorized, please be advised that from the time WorkSafeBC notifies the banks (both WorkSafeBC’s and yours) it can take up to three working days for the funds to be deposited into your account.

    What if I don't receive a payment?

You should check with the people at your financial institution first. If they can't answer your questions, you can contact us five banking days after the payment was supposed to go into your account. We will look into the matter and make sure you get your payment.

How long will my Direct Deposit information remain active?

Your banking information will remain active and Direct Deposit will continue to be used as your preferred method of payment until you otherwise advise WorkSafeBC. This means that regardless of when your last claim was, any claim you have in the future will also use the same banking information. You are required to notify WorkSafeBC if you want to change or update the bank account you wish to use for direct deposit.

What if I need to change my bank information or cancel the Direct Deposit service?

You can change your Direct Deposit information using the same form you used to set up the Direct Deposit. If you wish to cancel Direct Deposit a letter should be sent to WorkSafeBC.

    What if I move?

If you move, you should contact us or submit a change of address form as soon as possible to give us your new mailing address, even if your WorkSafeBC benefit payments are being deposited directly into your account. Having your current mailing address in our records means you will receive, without delay, communications from WorkSafeBC. Please note that your payments will continue to be deposited directly to the same account unless you change your banking information.
