Benefits of rehabilitation

We work closely with employers to help bring injured workers back to the workplace.

The benefits include:

  • Sustaining productivity
  • Increasing employee morale
  • Enhancing labour relations
  • Retaining valued employees
  • Reducing training and other costs
  • Reducing turn-over
  • Maintaining your image as a good corporate citizen

Vocational rehabilitation will not cost you more money. In fact, it will save you money: for every one dollar spent on rehabilitation, a minimum of three dollars is saved in overall costs.

Employers will:

  • Reduce the wage-loss benefits paid to the employee
  • Reduce the time and costs of recruiting and training a replacement employee

If you are unable to accommodate your employee within your company, you should be aware that additional costs may include:

  • WorkSafeBC assessment costs from preparing the worker for a new job with a new company
  • Costs associated with a loss in earnings and other pensions
  • Comprehensive vocational rehabilitation retraining program costs
  • Reduced employee morale and associated productivity costs

The longer the worker is out of the workforce, the higher these costs become.
