Ergonomic study whose purpose is to reduce the high incidence and severity of injury among Greater Victoria School District Staff. Performed Job Demands Analysis (JDA) including physical and cognitive components to develop standard templates for quantifying job duties and assist in identifying risk factors.

Job Analyses are included for the following positions:

  1. Kindergarten
  2. Upper Primary
  3. Grades 6 and 7
  4. Secondary School
  5. Special Education
  6. Study Skills Assistant
  7. Secretary
  8. Labourer-grounds
  9. Painter
  10. Custodian
  11. Administrator

This report also includes:

  1. JDA Template and
  2. Posture Checklist (ie., neck, hand, wrist, lumbar spine; flexion, extension, rotation, lifting, reaching, sitting, and standing)
  3. JDA Scoring Template
  4. Guidelines for Performing JDA's
  5. Office Ergonomic Guidelines
  6. NIOSH and Snook Guidelines
  7. Glossary of Terms
  8. Reference Section

Interventions were developed based on comparison of job descriptions against relevant ergonomic standards and guidelines to identify risks and develop proactive interventions. Due to time and resource limitations the feasibility and acceptability of proposed recommendations have not been well established.
