Influencing Industry

The larger, more mature WCB had to find a new way of reaching and influencing industry; there was simply no time for Board members to visit all the leaders of industry. The answer — have safety inspectors be the Board's representatives, taking the message that "safety is good business" to the work sites of B.C.

Not included are inspectors operating under other Acts who make reports to the WCB. In 1942 the number of inspectors directly administered by the WCB was: Boiler Act - 7, Electrical Act - 4; co-operating with the WCB, Factories Act - 2, Railways Act - 3, Mines Act - count not available.

First aid training is an important part of minimizing the effects of accidents.
